Four Wilkes-Barre area Elementary Schools have been awarded with a Fresh Fruits and Vegetables grant, which brings in all types of new vegetables and fruits for students to try. Eight students from Heights Murray Elementary School are on a Youth Advisory Council, where the students help the nutritionists choose foods that kids like and foods that are healthy for kids too. Mallory Rosenberg, assistant food service director, explains the new My Plate program to students. This replaces the food pyramid. She talked with elementary school students about their favorite types of food and some changes that have been taking place.
