Review: Samurai Jack -- Code of the Samurai

Fans of Genndy Tartakovsky's "Samurai Jack," which wrapped last year on the Cartoon Network, enjoy the quirky storytelling and remarkable visuals, also the martial arts sequences. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before the online gaming industry turned the time-traveling samurai's adventures into video games.

I haven't tried any of the games ready for gaming console systems, confining my efforts instead to Cartoon Network's own Web Site. Its Games section features six games based on "Samurai Jack," along with "The Way of the Warrior," in which the young samurai trains straight through some simulations for his eventual battle with the shape-shifting evil sorcerer Aku (deliciously voiced by veteran actor Mako in the series and console games).

The other games invariably highlight Jack battling Aku's minions--robots, beetle insects, and the like. Two of the games highlight a final showdown with Aku.

"Code of the Samurai" was a tie-in with a Samurai Jack marathon, so when you entrance the game, the interface asks you "Enter Code or Play." I suggest pushing Play since the customary marathon was two years ago.

Once you get into the game, you have to fight straight through three treacherous levels before you even get to Aku.

The first level features crumbling ledges, motorized spikes, machine-gun fire as you ride rock lifts up mountains, and of course, the clear baddies waiting to charge you. Tip: When riding the rock lifts, duck and jump to avoid the machine gun fire. Seize the chance when the second lift descends or ascends close to the lift you're on, otherwise you'll have to avoid the gunfire until the lift comes back within reach. The level features two lift challenges, all with a computerized attacker waiting at the top of the cliff.

The creatures on all three levels are adversaries that fans of "Samurai Jack" will recognize: zombie warriors, Terminator-style robots who look like they have baskets on their heads, and Aku's minions that turn into vapor when you charge them.

Tip: Try whenever possible to hit the targets with a good quick thrust of Jack's katana. The game says other weapons are ready to Jack, but for some imagine you only see him use his katana. Go slow and time your attacks so that the targets can't hit you first.

Jack gets five "lives," and you can see the red meter slowly shrink as he is bombarded with digital mayhem. Try to at least hold on to the fourth "life" when getting to the second level. After you clear each level the "life" you're currently on is replenished (Jack must have been drinking his trademark green tea.) When you get to the third level, try to keep at least three "lives," although you can get away with two. You need at least two to have a chance while the final skirmish with Aku.

At the end of the first two levels you do battle with a giant adversary more mighty than the others: a skeleton warrior on the first, a basket-head warrior on the second. The good news is you can watch its "life" meter and track your strengthen on defeating it.

The second level is filled with gears running amuck to mow you down, blades slashing at you, and on all three levels you run the risk of falling in slime or on sharp spikes, which make you lose a life. Tip: Time your jumps to avoid the gears, but don't get too jumpy, otherwise you fall into the slime.

The third level features spikes, consuming platforms and even wider jumps, if that's possible. Tip: The vapor demons can appear everywhere and are more poweerful than the adversaries in the first two levels. But this workout is just practice, flexing your muscles for the clash with Aku.

The final stage features ledges that sink into lava--you have to jump fast before you fall in. The computerized Aku is quite impressive, and just as in the series, flies off some times before Jack can deliver the final blow. But be brave, be steadfast, be victorious, and you, gamer, will defeat the evil scourge! The windup to the game is satisfying and delivers the foreseen, emotional payoff.

If you need to keep a child amused, introducing them to a cartoon dinosaur may be an option. Children need to feel as though they are accomplishing something to have their attention remain on what they are working on. If a child receives praise for their attempts a drawing a dinosaur, they will be more inclined to continue trying to draw, which keeps them quiet for longer. If you want to keep them quiet without teaching them how to draw a cartoon dinosaur, you can download and print a wide variety of coloring books and story books on dinosaurs. Both of these types of books can keep your child amused while also teaching them about dinosaurs. These types of books can often be found in book stores and magazine shops. These dinosaurs may also be featured in children's magazines.

Network Marketing is no different to any other business. In order to succeed it is essential to understand your target market.

Promoting your opportunity to the wrong audience will drain your cashflow and eventually force you out of business. But it is amazing how many network marketers are unaware of this basic marketing principle.

So many upline leaders teach the "shot gun" approach of making your list, getting information to them and seeing who sticks. This is one of the reasons we have a 95% failure rate in this industry.

The bottom line is that any network marketer really needs to learn the basics of target marketing in order to succeed in the business.

Before we go on, it should be stated that there is nothing wrong with mailing out some product CD's to your warm market. It's what you want to do, but that's just your first step. Not your only step. There are smarter ways to build your business..

So the first thing we need to do is define our target market:

These are people who are ALREADY actively using or consuming what we are promoting.

The first rule of marketing, is to sell products people want to buy, to the people who want to buy them.

You can't sell a steak to a vegetarian. You can't market a product to someone who does not have the desire to consume it.

You can't sell an opportunity to someone who isn't looking for one, no matter how 'perfect you think they would be' or how much money you think they could make.

In our industry, we have two target markets:

The first is our potential business partners.

This target market consists of one primary group of people - other network marketers, or people who buy products and services related to building a network marketing business.

Network marketers are opportunity buyers, meaning they are actively buying what you sell. They understand the Network Marketing industry so you don't have to spend time explaining basic concepts and the business model.

They are also experienced enough to know that it takes work and application to build a successful network marketing business.

It is essential to make the distinction between 'opportunity buyers' and 'opportunity seekers'. An opportunity seeker is anyone looking for a quick fix to their current problem - nothing more than someone who filled out a survey and raised their hand to say "I would like to earn extra money".

There are specific ways of marketing to opportunity seekers but don't be lulled into thinking that this is your prime market for business partners.

Target opportunity buyers for the greatest chance of success.

The second target market consists of our product customers.

However, we also need to be laser focused when targeting our product customers.

Let's use as an example a nutrition based opportunity. Most people would think that their target market consists of people who have health issues.

That is true to a point, but we can get, and want to get more specific than that.

How about people who have health concerns, and who actually spend money each month on health products... These people are your TRUE target market. So how do you find people these people?

People who have acid reflux, for example, currently buy prescription medication for it, and are between the ages of 30 and 60.

If you have a nutrition product that helps relieve acid reflux, then those are the specific people you want to market to. Not your Uncle Bob.

Just remember the difference between people who simply inquire about your offer, and those who are already spending money on something similar.

That is called "target marketing, and it's the foundation of your marketing efforts.

Clearly identifying your target market is a major step to achieving success in any business. Network marketing is no exception.

Poptropica is a fun website for kids that was launched in September 2011 by the Family Education Network. Poptropica is aimed at children from age 6 to 15 and exists in an educational format where children play games, travel and communicate with each other only at a safe level. Ben 10 is a show about a family, where the brother Ben, of course, stumbles upon an alien pod in the woods while on vacation! The Omnitrix attaches to Ben's wrist and the gives him the power to transform into an alien, but only for 10 minutes so that his Dna doesn't constantly become damaged! From his new gained powers, Ben realized that now has the responsibility to use his powers to do good. Thru his journeys with his family, a sister Gwen, and grandfather Max, they do battle with many aliens, finding too take the Omnitrix from them.

The one warlord alien Vilgax, is one of Bens main nemesis's! Vilgax tried to conquer the galaxy by stealing the Omnitrix, by sending his alien drones, and even he himself tried too take it! But Ben and his house succeeded in defeating Vilgax! Ben even had to fight Kevin! someone who could suck up some of bens powers from being around the Omnitrix. Kevin even eventually banded together with an alien named "Ghostfreak" who escaped the Omnitrix and tried too possess Ben! But luckily Ghostfreak and Kevin where eventually defeated! Toward the end of the fourth season of Ben 10, Ben even had to defeat a resurrected Ghostfreak and Vilgax! Ben even had to stop someone named physician Vicktor from cloaking the world with his corrodium beam project!

And Ben did all of this only with the help of his house and the power of the Omnitrix! A gadget originally designed to show the many races of the universe about one another, made by Azmuth. But the Omnitrix was eventually used for war because of its inherited power. The Omnitrix, binds too your skin, and is very hard to get off! Though very mechanical looking, it is organic in the sense of how it fits the user, growing and changing. It binds the users Dna with the Dna of the 10 aliens inside! Ben only has itsybitsy use of the Omnitrix, because of his inexperience, but the aliens that are after it have a best insight of it, and can use it to its optimum function. Changing from one alien to another just by thinking it!

So as you can see the Cartoon Network show, Ben 10 is a very exciting show too a wide range of people.
