A new social network that is soft launching this month. Yesterday the members got to see what is like to buy and sell tags. It is all very exciting but by 2:15 p.m. it was paused, major bugs in the system but will be back as soon as Monday.

How to generate a Memorable Leave Behind or Handout for Your Networking

I am assuming that you Are networking somewhere! You had best be - it is the best way to meet new habitancy and build those relationships that turn into repeat sales and referrals. Now the question is - What do you bring, pass out or display when you network?

Obviously, you are going to bring a lot of company cards. What else can you pass out that will be memorable or beneficial for the habitancy you meet? Most of you know about my Free Networking Calendar (if you do not, go to the Resources page on my Web site and check it out) and I assume you use it to schedule your networking each month. This is a great example of a creative and beneficial tool. I hand this calendar out to the new habitancy that I meet. It catches their attention and entices them to sign up for my email newsletters so that they can receive it every month. It is a marketing tool that works for me.

What can you develop, create, write or found that is creative, useful, and something that habitancy (meaning your target market, not just anyone) will want? This item should also be easy for you to print, buy, and/or reproduce at a low cost.

This does not mean, for example, that if you are a mortgage consultant or realtor, that you should found a list of homes that have sold in the area last month or a sheet with today's rates on it. That is no fun and habitancy for real will not care about that. Instead, it means to create something that is truly unique.

The following are some examples that you could tweak for your business.

I also distribute little books to put your company cards in (mine are red and black with my Web site and logo on the front of the owner to match my brand). I have found that habitancy love these. I also try to give them to 'newbie' networkers since they do not hold that many cards. More established networkers need much larger books.

Consider talking to a promotional products company. Brainstorm with them to agree something that is creative (other than pens, paper, magnets, and calendars) that you can distribute. Be sure that it is something habitancy will want to hold on to, keep handy or pass on. Take some time development your selection. If you do not, you will just end up ordering the same old pens - Boring!

Business Networking 101 - Effective Networking Strategies

There is really no secret to building your network of contacts. There are a lot of resources out there giving tips and tricks on building business networks and expanding your realm of influence, but there are some basic principals to follow that can have a significant impact on how successful your networking events and strategies are. Paying attention to the basic details is often a more effective approach than using any "secrets."

What is the point of business networking? It is the process of building relationships with complementary businesses, business owners, and business managers to increase your influence and position within a specific market or industry. There are two points to take away here - building relationships and increasing influence and position. Relationships will naturally increase your influence, and influence creates opportunity and improved market position.

The most important value in business is the relationships that are built. Customers, clients, vendors, and colleagues all shape the relationships within a business. Like any other area in life, the quality of the relationships can have a huge impact on the outcome of your interactions with existing and potential clients, vendor/reseller relations, and every other aspect of your daily operations. Focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with your contacts (both within and outside of your company) you will quickly begin to increase your influence with your contacts.

How do you practically build good relationships with new contacts? There is balance and communication to work on. If there is the potential to have a mutually beneficial relationship, or the new contact can possibly benefit you, request permission to follow-up with that person. If you can benefit them, let them know that you would be open to a follow-up communication.

The follow-up communication is where most individuals drop the ball. It is difficult to make time in a busy schedule to get in front of your computer with the intent to follow-up on potential leads or new contacts. If you don't follow up correctly, a few things can happen:

1) you can loose out on a potential referral,
2) you could loose out on a potential client,
3) you loose out on a opportunity to get connected to a whole different network of contacts, and
4) you can loose credibility by not following up when you expressed an interest to.

If networking for increasing influence and position within a market is important to you, then follow-up opportunities should be created, not missed.

If you can get through the follow-up process, your hope is for a favorable response from the people you contact. When favorable replies are made (either by phone or email), you gain an opportunity to create an acquaintance with the contact. This is the real first step in developing a relationship. At this stage, you have made a favorable enough first impression to engage someone a second time, so use this opportunity to win them over. This third step is usually the opportunity to give out some usable information, such as potential leads for each of you, or a request for proposal (or a request to offer a proposal) for services.

Once you have had a few interactions with your contacts, you begin to develop an acquaintance with them. At this point, you both know each other and each others businesses, but you aren't close with them yet. You may or may not have had any business dealings with them, but they are at least on your radar for future deals, or as someone who you can send referrals to. Most business relationships don't grow past this phase, but if you continue to follow up with them and remain in contact, often times you will either get a lead or be able to give a lead to someone you stay in contact with.

The final step in the business relationship process is developing a commitment with the new contact. This doesn't have to be any formal commitment, but typically means that you both agree to continue interacting with one another. Hopefully the commitment comes in the form of a new customer or a referral that turns into a client, but either way, you have built a new business relationship that will only grow from here. It is important to not loose contact with individuals in this stage of the business relationship because they can often be the most influential people in your growing network.

Most business-savvy individuals are always looking to grow their network, which means that follow-up and continued interactions are welcomed. It is your responsibility to bring value to the relationships that you build - don't just look to your own interest, but to the interest of your new contacts. In doing so, you will begin to increase your influence and position within your industry.

What Are Network Patch Panels?

Patch panels are used as the central point in a network where all the network cables terminate. It is the grand central station of the network. Networks that use these panels (and practically all modern networks use this technology) are think "star-networks" or they use the term "star-topology." This is because if you look at a drawing of your network, all the network nodes (nodes are end-points on the network and contain things like computers and printer) all connect back to the central "hub" and it looks like a big starburst. an additional one term is "spoke-and-wheel" where the "wheel" is your hub and patch panel and the personel cables going out to your nodes (computers and printers) come to be the spokes.

They come in discrete types and configurations from the simple wall-mounted 12-port patch panel block, to explain 96-port (and more!) rack-mounted patch panel. As was mentioned above, patch panels are rated for speed. So if you are running Cat 6 cable, you will need a Cat 6 patch panel.

At the outset, lets accept that there is no such thing as an ideal candidate, and there is no owner who is ideal for everyone. Still, every time we see man turn his or her occupation or make an upward move, we say or at least think that he/she is brilliant and was the ideal candidate for the position and that the company is lucky to have hired him or her.

[the current version] has been so streamlined and stripped of information that many people have no idea what it represents. " So what's the big deal? 2. Enable WPA/WEP Encryption. Wi-Fi devices are often equipped with encryption mechanism that ensures that only authorized computers or devices will be allowed to connect to the network. This encryption technology camouflages various data sent over the network which means that although they are intercepted, they cannot be easily read by humans. Wireless networks that have encryption settings enabled usually require that any devices who want to connect to the network should input a password. This can significantly decrease the chances of hackers getting into your network thus also minimizing the risk of identity theft.

3. Disable SSID Broadcast. SSID broadcast means that when you turn on your wireless device, it will automatically pick up the network that is being detected. This is only ideal for public Wi-Fi access so that hot spots may be easily accessible to people who want to connect to the network. However, for home wireless networks, it is not important that you broadcast your network since you can easily set it up yourself. This feature is totally unnecessary and it will only increase the chances of your network being hacked because when a hacker is able to detect your network, chances are, they will try to breach it.

4. Change your network name. Your network name is also known as the SSID. Most routers shipped by the manufacturers typically carry their brands as the default network name. Networks that are on default SSID often means that it is a poorly configured network and is more prone to attack. Change it immediately when you set up. Network Cables

A network consists of two or more computers linked together to share resources such as a printer or a scanner, change files, and enable electronic connectivity. Network cables are data transmission cables and are used to join together one network gadget to another. These cables enable high-speed data transfers between different components of the network.

Different types of network cables are used depending on the kind of network. The type of cable used for a network depends on the network's topology, protocol, and size. If a network has large whole of network devices, it will need cables that supply high speed and error free connectivity.
